Whats the difference between bavarian and boston cream dounuts?

Bavarian and boston cream are the same fillings. Also the custard in an eclair (as long as they dont use whip cream with it) it is a custard

The difference is that bavarian tend to have chocolate and boston cream tend to have powdered sugar (confectioners sugar)

But sometimes the boston cream have powdered sugar on top but fruit in the middleWhats the difference between bavarian and boston cream dounuts?
Bavarian is a nut like substance with hambuger meat and boston cream is a squash reduction with chipolte sauce and shrimp juice.Whats the difference between bavarian and boston cream dounuts?
I think Boston Creme is sweeter, or something.
Boston cream has chocolate frosting.
bavarian creme is more of a whipped type cream filling

boston cream is a custard filled.....
They're the same thing, only bavarian cream donuts are covered in confectioners sugar, and the boston creams are dipped in chocolate.
duh, boston cream is from boston. bavarian cream is from bavarialand....
Bavarian cream is white and sugary %26amp; boston cream is yellow and custard like, I love them both!!!!
Bavarian is filled with the Boston Cream filling, but is powdered. Boston Cream has chocolate frosting on top instead. However, this is only Dunkin' Donuts experience, not culinary expertise.
I always thought the filling was the same, but Boston creme donuts have chocolate topping, while Bavarian creme donuts are covered in powdered sugar.

  1. This is a location based answer. When I lived in upstate New York the Bavarian Cream had the chocolate on top and the custard filling. Then I moved to New England and asked for a Bavarian Cream and it had powdered sugar. I have to ask for a Boston Cream to get what I have always known as a Bavarian Cream.
